Pelham's Pillar located in Cabourne High Woods in Lincolnshire stands at a height of 128ft to commemorate Charles Anderson-Pelham who planted 12.5 million trees at this location. The tower enabled the earls of Yarborough to view their entire estate. The foundation stone was laid by Pelham's son and was completed in 1849.
A stack of 81 x 30 second exposures for the star trails at f/3.5 ISO 400.
1 minute exposure at ISO 400 for lighting the pillar with LED Lenser.
An additional shot at ISO 6400 add starry detail including the nebula top left.
All stacked using StarStax.
I'd had this shot in mind for a while and had been looking for a suitable location. I was trying something a bit different with the additional high ISO shot to try to enhance the 'reaching for the stars' effect and I'm pleased with the results. I wasn't quite expecting the startling contrast between the bursting full top-left and the almost barren right which has really helped to emphasise the star trails.
