RAF Stenigot was the home to several giant radar satellite dishes, used during World War II. I visited Stenigot last night along with Jules and Vik Waters. My night got off to a bad start... After arriving and not realising there was a little gate providing easy access, Jules and I climbed through a small spike filled hole in the fence, trekked across the worlds muddiest field and met up with Vik only to realise I'd left my tripod! After an hour or so of precariously balancing my camera on twisted pieces of metal I decided enough was enough and I needed my tripod. Returned to the car to find an Anglian Water security guy accompanied by several police cars. A quick explanation as to what we were doing and following the provision of names and addresses, we were allowed to continue. By the time I got back the clouds had come over and wind was houling!
Non-the-less, I had a great night and loads of fun, it just goes to show what good company can do.
This shot was before I'd got my tripod. I enjoyed the challenge and came away with some good shots of the broken, decaying mess under one of the dishes.
