Few people are aware of the volcano in Cleethorpes. Mount Cleesuvius, with a peak at just 1.6m above sea level is the smallest in the world. Vik and I were lucky enough to witness it erupt last night. A stunning sight as the lava flows down the sides and sparks shoot out the top.
It is believed that in 1659 Mt. Cleesuvius erupted with no warning, completely burying an entire Yorkshire family in a red-hot ash cloud as they shouted expletives on the beach. "Come fo' daaay, stayyy fo' eruption" was heard in their Yorkie accent. Their remains were uncovered recently, perfectly preserved in the positions they had assumed under the sun clouds, tins of White Lightning cider still in their hands.
Thanks to Vik and Jules for a jolly good LP session on the beach last night, was lots of fun.
SOOC except for very slight crop as I'd caught the edge of my lens hood in the corner, plus watermark.
