Introduction to Light Painting

Light Painting is a long exposure photography technique used to create stunning, surreal images in the dark. The images are created by moving light sources or selectively illuminating areas in front of the camera while the shutter is open for an extended period of time.

The movement of light allows the photograper to take images of things that don't exist, give a unique view of anything in the scene and get creative with any number of effects.

I have included further information and a few tutorials the articles below.

About Me

As this website is mainly about my Light Painting, it only seems right to include a bit about myself.

I've been creating art with light for two years now. I loved light painting from the very first time I tried it, and became hooked instantly. My style and techniques have developed dramatically since then, and are developing further all the time. I like to try out new techniques and occasionally like to spice things up by combining light painting with Urban Exploration.

I generally build all my own tools, with the exception of a few flash guns and torches (although even these have modification such as a gel holder to colour the light).  There aren't many commercially available tools for for this style of photography - a lot of people unaware that it even exists (and are amazed when they see the images), plus building my tools is half the fun!
